They are Associate Degree Nursing, Dental Assisting, Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy Technician, Polysomnographic Technology, Practical Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care, and Surgical Technology. To enter the Polysomnographic Technology program (sleep study), students must be a Registered Nurse or a Certified Respiratory Therapist. Seven programs (Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician, Polysomnographic Technology, Practical Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care, and Surgical Technology), are completely online, with face-to-face clinical work completed at selected sites. Graduates from SCC’s Health Sciences programs are in high demand. Ninety-three percent of SCC’s 323 Health Sciences graduates in 2010 found work or continued their education. Kurt Clyne, M.S., Pharm.D., director of pharmacy services at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, said, “Since the SCC Pharmacy Technician program was implemented, we have instituted student rotations and subsequently hired graduates from every graduating class. The quality of the accredited program and the training to prepare them to work in a hospital pharmacy is outstanding! The newly hired SCC Pharmacy Tech graduate has consistently demonstrated a high level of knowledge, motivation and enthusiasm to the career they have chosen.”
